The BDU-75A servo amplifier is produced by Okuma as part of the BDU Servomotor Drives series. Installed inside a machine tool electrical enclosure, the module supplies controlled power and closed-loop commands to a dedicated brushless axis motor. By combining line conversion, current regulation, and position feedback handling, it supports accurate contouring and feed rate control on numerically controlled equipment. Its role is to translate digital motion demands from the host CNC into precise torque and speed so the mechanical axis stays synchronized with programmed paths during automated production.
It obtains energy from three-phase 220 VAC power and rectifies this input to a fixed bus of 300 VDC. Overvoltage protection engages at 430 VDC, while a low-voltage limit of 220 VDC prompts a controlled shutdown to protect devices on the common rail. The DC Power Supply section can host up to 6 amplifiers, and seven status LEDs display charge level, fault, and ready states. Base, BDC, and SVC sections divide the power, logic, and gate-drive functions, and the SVC front panel carries ten indicators for runtime diagnostics. In each phase leg, the drive switches current with transistor PWM control, allowing smooth motor flux regulation and low harmonic loss.
Command data reach the amplifier over the Digital RCON serial bus that originates on the SVP board, and motion feedback is returned through the OSP position encoder so the control can compare actual speed and displacement. The unit is intended for axis positioning duty, processing both speed and position signals to support tight contour tolerances during feed movement. Each power channel is rated to operate a single 1 BL motor, which keeps current sensing and thermal behavior matched to one load at a time.
