The Okuma BDU Servomotor Drives series is a brushless servo drive platform used in Okuma machine systems for closed-loop motion control of feed axes and other machine functions.
The series uses AC drive technology with PWM-based power conversion and a flux-vector control architecture to regulate brushless servomotors. Its power structure is built around a shared DC power supply that can feed multiple drive amplifiers, with each amplifier assigned to a single brushless motor. The series includes BDU-A units for axis-positioning service and BDU-D units for auxiliary motion functions such as magazine and pallet handling. The BDU platform also incorporates drive-level monitoring for conditions such as phase loss, overcurrent, low voltage, high voltage, and heavy load, supporting fault detection within the Okuma control system.
