Product Description:
The YSM103 brushless servo motor is produced by Kollmorgen within the YSM Brushless Servo Motors series. Designed for closed-loop drive systems, it delivers controlled rotation for pick-and-place axes, miniature gantries, metering pumps, and similar equipment. Its brushless construction eliminates commutator wear, while Hall sensors and an incremental encoder allow the servo drive to command rapid reversals without excessive overshoot. Intended for compact machinery, the motor combines speed capability and continuous torque in a housing that minimizes installation depth.
Continuous stall torque reaches 0.35 Nm, giving the axis sufficient holding force for indexing duties while remaining within its thermal limits. For short bursts, the drive can request a peak torque of 0.97 Nm, supporting the acceleration of attached inertias when the operating cycle remains within the motor’s 2.2 °C/W thermal resistance limit. A maximum speed of 4500 rpm supports high-speed motion, while the eight-pole rotor contributes to smooth torque production. The damping coefficient is 0.003 Nm/kRPM, and friction torque is 0.007 Nm. Rotor inertia is 0.0000051 kg·m², allowing the controller to apply rapid acceleration and deceleration profiles. Dielectric strength is 1500 VAC RMS between the windings and frame, while the aluminum body helps dissipate stator heat.
Position feedback is generated by an optical encoder that delivers 2000 P/R with one index pulse per revolution, and the sensor draws 450 mA DC from the control electronics. The shaft tolerates an axial load of 3 kg and a radial load of 10 kg, allowing direct coupling to light pulleys or pinions. The motor has an overall length of 88 mm, which supports installation in compact machine assemblies. The assembly weighs 0.68 kg, helping keep end-effector mass low on high-speed robotic systems. Its short stack length supports an efficient thermal path, and the eight-pole arrangement distributes copper losses across the winding slots.
