Product Description:
The YSM102 is a compact brushless rotary actuator produced by Kollmorgen within the YSM Brushless Servo Motors series. Designed for closed-loop speed and position control, this model couples directly to gearheads or machine shafts and provides the rapid response and repeatability needed in pick-and-place, indexing, and light assembly stations across industrial automation lines. Its built-in encoder and Hall sensors allow the drive to manage torque and direction without external transducers, while an optional holding brake can maintain a stationary load when required.
A maximum mechanical speed of 4500 rpm sets the upper rotational limit before bearing or winding stress becomes critical. The motor has 8 stator poles, which balance torque production with fine commutation steps. Its low rotor moment of inertia of 0.0000031 kg·m² shortens acceleration time and supports fast operating cycles. Position feedback is supplied by a quadrature optical encoder with a resolution of 2000 P/R, and an index channel supplies a once-per-revolution reference for homing. Insulation integrity is verified with a dielectric withstand rating of 1500 VAC RMS, which separates the motor windings from the laminated stator stack. The motor also has a thermal resistance of 2.3 °C/W and mechanical damping of 0.002 Nm/kRPM, supporting predictable temperature rise and smooth velocity regulation.
The shaft can accept an axial load of 3 kg and a radial load of 10 kg, providing limits for belt tension and pinion overhang. Its net mass is 0.54 kg, which reduces the mounting load on lightweight gantries and moving assemblies. A permanent-magnet brake provides 0.157 Nm of holding torque and draws 0.26 A when released, securing vertical axes during a loss of power. The encoder electronics draw 450 mA at 5 V, allowing the feedback system to operate from a standard low-voltage supply. Differential outputs are generated by an AM26LS31-equivalent line driver to preserve signal integrity over extended cable lengths and in electrically noisy industrial installations.
