Product Description:
The M.1015.6973 is a brushless servo motor manufactured by Kollmorgen for the YSM Brushless Servo Motors series. This compact unit is designed for integration into light-duty positioning stages, pick-and-place heads, and other automated mechanisms where small but precisely controlled rotary motion is required. By coupling to a digital servo drive and feedback device, the motor provides the repeatable torque output and speed regulation needed to align, feed, or index components within an industrial process.
Under continuous load, the motor delivers 0.2 Nm of torque, while short-duty peaks can reach 0.48 Nm without saturating the magnetic circuit. These values are obtained at the rated supply of 230 V, a level compatible with many mid-range servo drives. The stator winding has 18.8 Ω of resistance, and the sine torque constant of 0.16 Nm/A indicates the proportional relationship between phase current and generated torque. An 8-pole rotor allows the controller to issue fine commutation angles, and the assembly can spin at up to 4500 rpm, providing adequate speed for indexing or retraction movements. A back-EMF constant of 20 V/krpm assists the drive with velocity estimation and supports responsive speed regulation during changing loads.
Dynamic performance is influenced by a rotor inertia of 0.000003 kg·m², allowing fast acceleration with limited servo effort when the motor is coupled to light loads. Position feedback is provided by an optical encoder that generates 2000 pulses/rev, supplying quadrature signals for high-resolution control. The housing carries an IP43 protection rating, which guards against solid objects larger than 1 mm and water sprayed at angles up to 60 degrees from vertical. The motor weighs 0.54 kg and dissipates heat through a thermal path rated at 2.3 °C/W. The coil insulation withstands 1500 VAC RMS during dielectric testing, while a phase inductance of 22.3 mH helps filter current ripple when the motor is powered by a PWM inverter.
