Product Description:
The XSM165-172-402-M-0KA is a servo motor produced by Kollmorgen within the XSM Centurion Servo Motors series. As a brushless rotary actuator, it converts electrical commands from a compatible servo drive into controlled mechanical motion for positioning axes in industrial automation cells, packaging lines, and material-handling equipment. The paired drive can operate from a 230 VAC supply and regulate the motor’s torque, speed, and position according to the commanded motion profile. An integrated multi-turn absolute encoder provides position data immediately after power-up, eliminating the need for a homing sequence and reducing system startup time.
During continuous operation, the motor generates 19.4 Nm of torque while its windings carry a stall current of 41.5 A. Its torque constant is 0.54 Nm/A, linking drive current to the resulting torque for predictable control-loop tuning. The winding has an inductance of 3.3 mH and a resistance of 0.167 ohm. These electrical values affect current rise time, thermal losses, and the response of the motor to rapid command changes. The 165 frame casting has a 165 mm bolt circle and a 130 mm pilot diameter for flange mounting. Its total length is 283.8 mm, allowing the required enclosure depth and coupling clearance to be determined before installation. A keywayed shaft provides positive engagement with gears, pulleys, and other driven components.
For demanding acceleration profiles, the motor can produce a peak torque of 48.6 Nm. It sustains a rated speed of 4000 rpm when controlled by a compatible drive, supporting rapid movement in indexing and positioning applications. The rotor inertia is 0.00147 kg·m², which supports quick reversals while limiting the regenerative energy produced during deceleration. The motor weighs 15 kg, allowing mounting plates and supporting structures to be sized for its installed load. A voltage constant of 65 V/krpm supports drive selection based on speed and back-electromotive-force requirements. The winding is supplied without an integral brake, so vertical or gravity-loaded axes require an external holding device or drive-produced holding torque when stationary.
