Product Description:
The XSM130-73-304-S-2AA is a brushless AC servo motor produced by Kollmorgen within the XSM Centurion Servo Motors series. The unit provides closed-loop torque and velocity control for positioning axes, pick-and-place heads, and coordinated gantries used in automated assembly and packaging cells. It converts electrical commands from a digital drive into controlled mechanical rotation, allowing a machine controller to regulate speed, acceleration, position, and holding force. This electronically controlled operation supports repetitive production cycles without relying on mechanical gear shifting or throttle devices.
A factory-mounted 24 V holding brake clamps the rotor whenever power is removed, preventing vertical loads or indexing tables from drifting. The housing has a frame designation of 130, giving it a square cross section that aligns with common flange patterns for this size class. Rotor position is returned to the drive through a SinCos encoder, which supplies analog sine and cosine signals for high-resolution interpolation. This feedback allows the controller to monitor shaft position continuously and correct motion when operating conditions change. The motor supports continuous operation up to 3000 rpm, providing a practical speed range for positioning and velocity-controlled machinery. Its stator winding is designed for a nominal bus voltage of 460 V from a compatible servo amplifier.
The configuration uses standard options for its shaft, seal, and thermal arrangements. This setup retains the regular mechanical interfaces and thermal configuration intended for the model. Compatible drive parameter files can apply the appropriate electrical constants and commutation tables when the motor is selected in the control system. Proper brake control is required so the rotor can be released during commanded movement and secured when power is removed. Coupling alignment, load inertia, cable routing, and amplifier compatibility should also be verified before the axis is operated. The closed-loop control system can then use the available position data to maintain stable motion during acceleration, constant-speed travel, deceleration, and standstill holding.
