Product Description:
The XSM130-72-402-M-2AA is a permanent-magnet servo motor produced by Kollmorgen within the XSM Centurion Servo Motors series. Designed for closed-loop motion axes in industrial automation, it delivers controlled rotary power to light machinery. The motor has a frame size of 130, incorporates eight magnetic poles, and supports multi-turn feedback for absolute position reporting to the drive. An optional 24 V holding brake can secure loads when power is removed. Installing the brake adds 1.91 inches to the motor’s overall length.
With a rated bus voltage of 230 V, the windings have a phase resistance of 0.51 Ω and a phase inductance of 4.7 mH. These electrical values affect current response and commutation behavior during controlled operation. The motor can reach a mechanical speed of 4000 rpm, allowing fast indexing cycles in automated equipment. Peak torque reaches 20.3 Nm, while continuous torque is 72 in-lb under forced-convection cooling. The drive applies voltage to the stator windings according to the motor’s electrical constants, helping control torque production and thermal loading. The housing has a mass of 7.3 kg, which must be considered when selecting supports and mounting surfaces.
The rotor has a moment of inertia of 0.00038 kg·m², allowing the axis to accelerate quickly without placing excessive demand on the drive current loop. Torque production scales with current through a torque constant of 0.48 Nm/A. Generated back electromotive force follows a voltage constant of 62 V/krpm, providing the drive with a suitable value for motor parameter settings. The radial bearings can support a load of 73 kg at 3000 rpm when pulleys or belt drives are attached. Four M8 × 1.25 mm mounting holes secure the motor to the machine frame. Each mounting hole has a thread depth of 19 mm, allowing the motor to be fastened firmly to a compatible surface.
