Product Description:
The XSM115-53-502-E2-2AA servo motor is produced by Kollmorgen within the XSM Centurion Servo Motors series. This brushless unit provides precise rotary motion for indexing, conveying, and pick-and-place tasks that require rapid acceleration and accurate positioning. It fits a 115 mm frame and has a 115 mm bolt circle for flange mounting. The motor can be supplied with a 24 VDC fail-safe brake that lengthens the housing by 1.91 inches, allowing vertical axes to remain locked when power is removed. Incremental encoder feedback allows the attached drive to close speed and position loops without an external resolver or absolute sensor.
Rated output torque is 53 in-lb, giving the actuator enough moment to move moderate payloads without gear reduction. Maximum shaft velocity reaches 5000 rpm, so cycle times remain short in high-throughput machinery. A torque constant of 0.41 Nm/A indicates how much current the drive needs for a specific load, simplifying current-loop scaling. The windings are designed for a 230 V bus, allowing connection to compatible single-phase or three-phase servo amplifiers. The integrated encoder produces 2000 quadrature pulses per revolution, yielding 8,000 counts per mechanical turn after standard four-edge interpolation and supporting fine incremental positioning.
Dynamic performance is supported by a rotor inertia of 0.00038 kg·m², which keeps acceleration forces low and minimizes overshoot during rapid start-and-stop sequences. The stator has a winding inductance of 3.3 mH and a winding resistance of 0.64 Ω. These electrical values determine how quickly the drive can establish phase current during operation. Mechanical power is transferred through a 19.0 mm diameter shaft finished with an M6 × 1.0 mm center thread for drawbar-style couplings. The voltage constant is 50 V/kRPM, which supports back-EMF calculations during regenerative operation.
