Product Description:
The VLM33J-CMN2-30 is a brushless servo motor produced by Kollmorgen for the VLM Brushless Motors series. It converts three-phase drive current into controlled rotary motion for indexing tables, belt conveyors, and compact gantry axes in industrial automation cells. Its closed-loop operation supports repeatable positioning and controlled speed changes when paired with a compatible servo drive. The motor occupies the NEMA 34 or 90 mm metric frame envelope, allowing it to bolt directly to many standard gearheads, machine brackets, and mounting plates.
The motor is supplied with no brake, so external clamping or commanded holding torque must secure loads when drive power is removed. Rotor position is reported through a 2048 PPR digital encoder, giving the controller fine-resolution feedback for precise velocity and position loops. Power and feedback conductors exit through a factory-installed 3-meter cable, eliminating the need for junction boxes in compact machines while keeping the leads manageable during installation. The leads use shielded cables with Molex connectors, which reduce the effects of electromagnetic noise and provide keyed connections to compatible drive pigtails. This cable arrangement also allows the power and feedback wiring to be routed through confined machine spaces without adding separate motor-side connectors.
Mounting bolts follow a metric thread pattern, allowing the motor to fasten directly to ISO-dimensioned brackets without conversion hardware. Magnetic output comes from a rotor core built with three lamination stacks, which increases continuous torque while keeping rotor inertia moderate. The internal copper arrangement uses the J winding code, pairing the motor with drives that provide the intended voltage constant and rated current. Kollmorgen assigns shaft and mount code C to this unit, indicating a straight keyed shaft with a tapped center for pulley or coupling hardware. The key provides positive torque transfer to the connected component, while the tapped center supports secure retention of installed hardware during acceleration and deceleration. These mounting and shaft features allow the motor to connect to common couplings, pulleys, and compact gearheads used in controlled-motion equipment.
