Product Description:
The VLM32H-AMN2-30 is a brushless servo motor produced by Kollmorgen within the VLM Brushless Motors series. As a VLM servo motor, it is intended for general-purpose positioning or speed control tasks in industrial automation where straightforward integration is a priority. The model combines a permanent-magnet rotor with Hall-based commutation, allowing motion controllers to issue sinusoidal or trapezoidal drive commands for controlled movement. This arrangement supports responsive operation in gantries, feeders, and material-handling axes that require repeatable speed or position control.
This version is supplied with no holding brake, so any load-holding function must be handled through drive torque or external mechanics. Power and feedback signals pass through a factory-installed 3-meter cable, which supports many cabinet-to-axis runs without intermediate junctions. The pigtail uses shielded cables with Molex connectors, reducing electrical noise while providing keyed connections to compatible Kollmorgen drives. Rotor position is reported by a 2048 PPR digital encoder, providing detailed feedback for velocity and position loops. The stator uses a NEMA 34 or 90 mm metric frame, allowing the motor to fit compatible inch-based mounts or metric mounting plates without an adapter. These interface options simplify cable routing and help maintain dependable feedback in electrically noisy industrial environments.
The motor uses metric face mounting, so its pilot diameter and bolt circle conform to the applicable metric mounting pattern. Internal torque production is supported by a two-stack rotor, which provides greater continuous torque than a single-stack configuration while keeping rotor inertia moderate. The shaft/mount code A indicates a straight shaft with a standard keyway and no sealing hardware. Electromagnetic performance is associated with winding code H, which identifies a coil arrangement intended for higher bus voltages and moderate current requirements. The keyed shaft provides positive engagement with compatible couplings, pulleys, or gearboxes during acceleration and deceleration. Because the shaft does not include sealing hardware, the installation should prevent liquids and contaminants from reaching the shaft opening. The moderate rotor inertia also supports controlled acceleration without imposing the response characteristics of a larger, heavier rotor assembly.
