Product Description:
The VLM32H-AKNR-30 is a brushless servo motor manufactured by Kollmorgen within the VLM Brushless Motors series. It converts electrical power into controlled rotary motion for indexing tables, material-handling axes, and other automation tasks that require repeatable speed and position control. The motor provides mid-range torque in a frame that accommodates NEMA and metric mounting patterns, allowing the same platform to be used with machinery built around either standard. Its brushless design supports precise electronic commutation while avoiding the wear associated with mechanical brushes.
The motor is supplied without a brake, making it appropriate for systems that rely on drive torque or an external clamp for holding. A factory-installed 3-meter cable carries phase current and feedback signals to the control cabinet, reducing the amount of field wiring required during installation. Position data is generated by a resolver, a rugged electromagnetic sensor that withstands shock and high temperatures better than many optical encoders. The housing has a NEMA 34 or 90 mm metric frame size, so the flange fits common gearboxes, belt drives, and machine mounting surfaces. For direct attachment to European machinery, the front face has metric mounting, eliminating the need for an adapter plate.
Power is routed through an unterminated shielded power cable, allowing the connector style to be selected for the application while maintaining protection against electromagnetic interference. The magnetic core uses a two-stack rotor, which increases axial length to raise continuous torque without enlarging the motor’s cross-section. Mechanical coupling dimensions follow shaft/mount code A, which indicates a straight shaft with a keyway for positive engagement with a coupling or pulley. Thermal and resistance characteristics correspond to winding code H, allowing the motor to operate at its rated current and speed when connected to a compatible amplifier. The cable arrangement also permits routing through an enclosure gland or attachment to a connector selected for the control system.
