The VLM31E-BKNC-30 servo motor is built by Kollmorgen and belongs to the VLM Brushless Motors series. Intended for positioning, indexing, and speed-control duties, the unit supplies brushless torque in compact machinery ranging from packaging actuators to small gantry axes. In typical servo applications, it converts commanded current into controlled rotary motion so the connected axis can maintain position accuracy and stable speed under changing load conditions. The mechanical interface centers on a NEMA 34 or 90 mm metric frame, allowing the motor to bolt to standard US or metric faceplates without adapter rings. The rotor is supplied without a brake, so stopping torque must be provided by the drive or an external holding device. A factory-attached 3-meter cable carries phase power from the motor to the cabinet, reducing field wiring time. For feedback wiring, a shielded cable with encoder conductors terminates in a 15-pin D-Sub connector housed in a molded backshell.
