Product Description:
The VLM21G-DLN2-30 belongs to the VLM Brushless Motors series manufactured by Kollmorgen. Designed as a servo actuator, it converts electrical energy from a matched drive into controlled rotation for conveyors, pick-and-place axes, and light packaging equipment used in industrial automation. Its standard frame and integrated feedback allow closed-loop motion control without special adapters or external position sensors. The motor can be paired with a compatible servo drive to regulate speed, torque, and position throughout repeated operating cycles.
The unit is supplied with no brake, so any required static holding force must be provided by the drive or a mechanical clamp. Power and feedback conductors leave the housing through a factory-installed 3-meter cable, providing sufficient length for direct routing to a nearby control cabinet. The lead is an unterminated shielded cable, allowing the installer to select a suitable connector while maintaining protection against electromagnetic interference. Rotor position is reported by a 2048 PPR digital encoder, which produces a high-resolution pulse train for accurate velocity measurement and indexing control. The motor uses a NEMA 23 or 60 mm metric frame format, allowing attachment to compatible gearboxes and motor plates. Its pilot diameter and bolt circle also align with mounting brackets designed for this frame format.
Continuous torque is influenced by a single-stack magnetic design, which keeps the motor body compact while providing useful stall torque for moderate loads. The shorter magnetic stack also limits the overall motor depth, making the unit suitable for machinery with restricted installation space. Output torque is transmitted through shaft/mount code D, which corresponds to a round shaft with a keyway for securing pulleys or rigid couplings. The keyed connection helps prevent angular slip when torque changes rapidly during acceleration or deceleration. Electrical behavior follows winding code G, which assigns resistance and inductance values suited to compatible drives operating from a common 320 VDC bus. This winding allows the amplifier to regulate motor current across normal positioning, velocity-control, and holding operations.
