Product Description:
The VLM21E-ALNC-00 servo motor is produced by Kollmorgen for the VLM Brushless Motors series. As a VLM servo motor, it delivers controlled rotary motion for material-handling, packaging, and light-assembly equipment in industrial automation. Its brushless design reduces commutator wear and works with internal feedback to provide stable speed and position regulation in a compact package. This arrangement supports responsive operation during repeated starts, stops, and changes in commanded motion.
The rotor is supplied with no brake, so the shaft remains free when power is removed, and any stationary load must be held by an external device. A factory-installed 1-meter cable exits the housing, providing adequate length for short connections without extension leads. The motor uses an unterminated shielded cable, allowing a suitable connector to be fitted while maintaining noise immunity between the motor and drive electronics. Position data comes from an SFD sensor, Kollmorgen’s single-turn digital feedback format that communicates commutation and incremental information through a small number of channels. The front face is compatible with NEMA 23 or 60 mm metric mounting, providing two common mounting formats within the same motor class. These mounting formats allow the motor to connect directly to compatible machine plates, gearheads, and coupling assemblies.
The motor employs a metric bolt pattern on its rear pilot, allowing it to seat directly against compatible ISO gearheads or machine plates without adapters. The magnetic circuit uses a one-stack rotor, which keeps inertia low while supporting the torque associated with the selected winding. Shaft and mounting geometry are designated by code A, allowing compatible coupling components to align without custom machining. Winding code E establishes the voltage constant and thermal limits required for use with suitable servo amplifiers. The selected winding influences the motor’s electrical response, while the low-inertia rotor supports rapid acceleration in light-duty motion axes. The resulting arrangement is appropriate for compact machinery where cable routing, mounting compatibility, and responsive speed control are important.
