The TBMS-7615-A is a frameless permanent-magnet motor segment produced by Kollmorgen within the TBM Frameless Motors series. Supplied as a rotor-stator kit rather than a housed unit, it is intended to be embedded directly into gimbals, joint modules, or other compact axes where space and weight reduction are critical. Because the kit has no external housing, the surrounding machine structure provides bearing support, alignment, and a path for heat transfer. When paired with an external servo drive, the motor provides direct torque to the load, eliminating gear trains and enabling smooth, high-resolution motion in industrial automation assemblies that demand precise speed control.
The winding is optimized for a bus of 48 VDC, so drive selection must guarantee adequate current at that voltage. At stall, the motor delivers 0.939 N-m of continuous torque while drawing 8.57 Arms, a level set by the copper losses and thermal limits of the stator. The phase inductance of 0.4 mH and a DC resistance of 0.37 ohms set the electrical time constant the drive must overcome for fast current regulation.
