Product Description:

Part of the SS2000 SLO-SYN series of high-resolution motion control drives is the Kollmorgen SS2000MD4M-0 microstep stepper motor drive.

It runs off an input voltage of 24 to 40 VDC and provides a switch-selectable drive current of 1.0 to 3.5 amps, making it suitable to many motor and load requirements. The location of this drive is enacted with precision and speed. It works with microstepping resolutions of up to 20,000 microsteps per revolution and is perfect to handling smooth motion that is desired by CNC machines, robotics, or semiconductor handling. It works with TTL-compatible step and direction, and has a high step input frequency of up to 250 kHz; that is, it can be driven by high-speed pulse trains generated by standard motion controllers or PLCs, without special interfacing parts. With appropriate NEMA-frame stepper motors, the supported range of motor speed of the output is up to 3,000 RPM. This SS2000MD4M-0 has the choice of internal and external speed control; an internal potentiometer allows manual tuning, or alternatively, an external voltage control connection is available to actuate automated systems.

It also has a feature of auto current reduction at standstill (user-selectable), which inhibits the generation of heat and saving of energy during standstill. Thermal stability is supported by a built-in heatsink, and protection technology offers undervoltage and transient overvoltage protection, increasing the reliability of the system as a whole. The unit contains both phase-to-phase and phase-to-ground short circuit protection, and the power supply winding can be taken off (windings-off) to provide additional safe conditions during maintenance or times when the power system is idle. The dimensions of the unit are 69.57 x 179.32 x 96.2 mm, which provide a small footprint that fits space-restricted installations. It weighs 3.52 kg, and it is rugged enough to be typically placed behind panels in industry.
