Product Description:

The SS2000MD4-101 is a microstepping drive that Kollmorgen has developed for industrial automation's bipolar stepper motors. It is appropriate for motion control applications that necessitate precise step and direction signals and operate within a DC voltage input range of 24 to 40 volts. The compact design of the unit incorporates motor control, power input, and signal interface.

The minimum inductance for the SS2000MD4-101 microstepping drive is 0.5 millihenry, and the maximum resistance is defined as 0.25 times the DC voltage divided by the current setting. For instance, the utmost permissible resistance is 2.1 ohms when a 3.5 ampere current setting is used in conjunction with a 30 VDC supply. Under the most extreme circumstances, the drive can dissipate up to 35 watts. A maximal heatsink temperature of 70°C may necessitate forced-air cooling, and the operating temperature range is from 0°C to +50°C. The temperature of storage is between -40°C and +75°C. The left side of the motor terminal block is connected to the motor coils by four connections. The RED and RED/BLU wires are connected to A+ and A−, respectively, and the BLU (ORG) and BLU/WHT (BRN) wires are connected to B+ and B−. The power input connector employs a BLUE wire for the positive terminal and a BLUE/WHT wire for the ground connection.

The SS2000MD4-101 microstepping drive guarantees functional stability at elevated locations by supporting a maximum altitude of 10,000 feet. It also complies with standard environmental specifications, supporting non-condensing humidity levels of up to 95%. DC power supplies that are appropriately rated and that correspond to the voltage and current characteristics of the motor are compatible with the drive. To guarantee proper operation, the wiring must be precisely aligned with the phase coupling of the connected stepper motor.

Frequently Asked Questions about SS2000MD4-101:

Q: Does SS2000MD4-101 always need forced-air cooling?

A: No, forced-air cooling is only needed when the heat sink exceeds 70°C. Natural convection is sufficient under lower temperature and load conditions.

Q: Do wiring colors affect SS2000MD4-101 motor coil matching?

A: Yes, wiring colors must match the specified coils. Incorrect phase wiring causes erratic motor behavior and disrupts microstepping control.

Q: Why does SS2000MD4-101 limit resistance to 0.25×V/I?

A: It controls power loss and ensures proper current regulation. This protects internal components and maintains consistent motor torque output.

Q: Does SS2000MD4-101 function at high humidity levels?

A: Yes, it supports up to 95% non-condensing humidity. This allows installation in areas with high ambient moisture without performance degradation.

Q: How does SS2000MD4-101 support high-altitude operation?

A: The unit operates reliably up to 10,000 feet. Internal thermal and electrical ratings accommodate pressure variations in elevated environments.
