The SS2000DP4 is a stepper motor drive manufactured by Kollmorgen as part of the SS2000 SLO-SYN Drives series. It houses two independent power stages so a single enclosure can command a pair of synchronous stepping motors. In an automation cell, the drive accepts digital motion commands from a PLC or indexer and translates them into regulated phase current, giving modest-torque axes the incremental accuracy required for feeders, inspection fixtures, and light-duty actuators. The dual-channel layout reduces the number of separate drive modules needed in compact two-axis systems.

The drive operates from a 115/230 VAC ±10% single-phase supply and draws up to 2.5 A at 115 V or 1.25 A at 230 V, routing that energy through a bipolar, 2-phase PWM power bridge. Motion commands can be presented as Pulse/Direction or CW/CCW signals, allowing straightforward interfacing with standard stepper controllers. This arrangement supports common control hardware without requiring a separate command format for each axis. Each axis reaches a maximum shaft speed of 3000 rpm when the connected motor has at least 0.5 mH of phase inductance. Wiring flexibility is provided through 4-, 6-, or 8-lead motor terminals, and the optically isolated inputs draw only 16 mA per signal. Two integrated amplifiers let a single module control two axes while keeping the enclosure at 6.875 inches wide, 9.7 inches high, and 5.96 inches deep.

Thermal management is aided by a 70 W internal dissipation ceiling, so the unit must be mounted where airflow can carry off that heat. The chassis weighs 15 lb, which keeps panel support requirements modest. The drive maintains full output at up to 95% noncondensing relative humidity and at altitudes not exceeding 10000 ft, making it suitable for most factory floors and moderate-altitude facilities. Adequate clearance around the enclosure helps maintain stable operation during continuous service.
