The SS2000D6i-WOC is a stepper-motor drive produced by Kollmorgen as part of the SS2000 SLO-SYN Drives series. It translates host commands into regulated phase currents so indexing tables, pick-and-place axes, and other automation stages can position accurately without additional motion processors. By integrating power electronics, a communication front end, and signal conditioning in one chassis, the drive streamlines cabinet layouts and reduces wiring between the motion controller and the motor.
The output stage can deliver up to 7 A of AC bus current while limiting each motor phase to 6 A, providing a clear margin between supply capacity and winding demand. Position smoothness is enhanced by the fine microstep pitch of 12,800 microsteps per revolution, allowing small incremental moves even on coarse-pitch lead screws. A 16-bit, 16 MHz microprocessor handles motion control tasks, interprets the two onboard serial ports, and manages closed-loop corrections when an encoder is present. For remote control through a PLC or HMI, the RS-485 port supports data exchange at up to 38 kbaud, and line termination is selectable so multiple nodes can share the link. Analog velocity or torque commands are digitized with 10-bit resolution and an accuracy of ±0.3 V, providing a proportional interface when serial control is not required.
The encoder channel accepts differential inputs up to 500 kHz per channel and feeds the sensor with +5 VDC at 100 mA, removing the need for an external supply. Internally, the power stage dissipates 50 W under full load and is protected by an 8 A, 250 V fuse, while field devices can draw up to 250 mA from the isolated logic output. Up to 32 drives can be daisy-chained on one RS-485 trunk, keeping wiring simple in multi-axis machines.
