Product Description:

The SS2000D6i is a stepper drive produced by Kollmorgen for the SS2000 SLO-SYN Drives series. It accepts motion commands from a controller and converts them into phased current for a two-phase SLO-SYN motor. In automated lines it positions indexing tables, small gantries, and conveyor diverts that require predictable step accuracy and closed-loop stall detection. Its integrated microstep generator also allows standalone indexing sequences when a host PLC is unavailable. The drive can be used on compact motion axes where repeatable positioning is more important than very high travel speed.

The power section can source up to 7 A per phase, setting the torque ceiling for low-speed moves. Its analog velocity input is filtered to 100 Hz max, digitized with 10 bits of resolution, and refreshed at a minimum rate of 500 Hz min. An incremental encoder generating as much as 2 Mcount/s is accommodated, and the drive supplies the sensor with a regulated +5 VDC. Input circuits switch on in 10 µs and release after 75 µs, preventing pulse loss during rapid direction changes. Open-collector status outputs can sink 250 mA at up to 25 V for relays, indicator lights, or PLC points. These feedback and I/O functions support stable stepper control during command changes and encoder monitoring.

Continuous operation at full load generates about 50 W of heat that is conducted through the aluminum housing, so no fan is required. The drive weighs 7.75 lb, which helps reduce mounting load on the panel structure. Its narrow 3.67 in width, 5.98 in depth, and 10.93 in height allow high-density panel layouts while still giving room for cable bends. The compact enclosure also suits rack or back-panel installation where multiple motion components share the same cabinet space.
