Product Description:

The SS2000D6 is a stepper motor drive produced by Kollmorgen as part of the SS2000 SLO-SYN Drives series. Industrial automation systems use this unit to convert differential clock and direction signals into tightly regulated phase currents, generating incremental motion in two-phase hybrid step motors. The drive’s chopper power stage and configurable pulse interface allow open-loop positioning on conveyors, small gantries, and indexers without requiring a heavier servo system.

To supply the internal DC link, the drive draws an AC line current of 7 A and rectifies it to a stable bus of 180 VDC. Its bipolar two-phase chopper topology modulates phase current from zero to a peak of 6.0 A, allowing motors with phase resistances no greater than 2 ohms at that rating. The current loop remains stable across winding inductances from 8 mH to 64 mH, so both low-reactance and high-reactance motors can be paired without timing errors. Command inputs remain responsive, and the step line accepts pulses as narrow as 0.4 µs while continuing to track frequencies up to 1 MHz, maintaining angular accuracy even when high-resolution microstepping is required by the controller.

Additional limits cover axis speed, pulse scaling, and heat output. The power stage supports mechanical rates up to 10,000 full steps/s, and when external electronics subdivide the basic step, the drive interprets up to 50,000 pulses/rev for finer positioning. Switching losses and bus ripple are contained to a total heat output of 50 W, reducing cabinet cooling load during operation. The housing stands 273 mm tall, measures 97 mm in width, and projects 149 mm in depth when installed with mounting hardware. Overall mass is 2.95 kg, providing a compact and stable package for DIN panel or custom bracket mounting.
