The SR3640-1034-84-7-56HC is one of Kollmorgen Automation popular permanent magnet motor designs. It is built with a formidable housing unit that is suited to the harsh operating conditions of industrial environments. This motor is strong enough to withstand explosions and is suited for Washdown duty. Under ideal operating conditions, this motor will maintain an efficiency level of about 95 per cent. The magnets responsible for the excitation and rotation of the motor rotor are patented anti-cogging magnets that are built for low-speed operation and a high overcurrent capacity. The magnets also support dynamic braking without demagnetization. The permanent magnets of the motor are significantly smaller, lighter and more efficient than those available in other motor designs. There is a fan integrated into the housing of this motor design to get rid of excess heat through a process of forced ventilation.

The SR3640-1034-84-7-56HC motor design features large ball bearings that prevent leakage of lubricating fluid from the motor housing. The commutator in this motor is rugged and fused into the motor, which plays a critical role in helping the motor maintain a low inertial during its operation.
