Product Description:
The SR3640-8293-56-1-56HC is a permanent-magnet DC motor produced by Kollmorgen within the SR and SRF Permanent Magnet Motors series. It is intended for fixed-speed or speed-controlled tasks in automated machinery where compact direct-current drives are preferred over AC induction units. By combining a permanent-magnet field with a wound armature, the motor supplies steady torque from zero speed up to its rated operating point. This operating behavior makes it suitable for conveyors, small extruders, positioning tables, and other equipment that requires predictable torque at low speeds. The permanent-magnet field also avoids the separate excitation circuit associated with a wound-field DC motor, simplifying the electrical arrangement.
The motor uses an armature voltage of 90 VDC, allowing it to connect to common industrial DC drives without a step-down transformer. Its SCR-rated drive interface supports conventional silicon-controlled rectifier regulators that control speed through phase-angle modulation while remaining within the motor’s commutator limits. Mechanical output reaches a nominal shaft speed of 1750 rpm, which works with common gearbox ratios used in light industrial machinery. Thermal management relies on a TENV housing, meaning the totally enclosed, nonventilated enclosure keeps contaminants away from the windings and releases heat through its exterior surface. Adequate clearance around the housing is important because the motor does not use internal ventilation to remove heat. The electromagnetic system uses a permanent-magnet DC design, which eliminates field-winding losses and supports a responsive change in speed when the applied armature voltage is adjusted.
The motor has a continuous-duty rating, allowing operation at full load for extended periods when the permitted ambient temperature and installation conditions are maintained. Its shaft output is rated at 1/2 HP, providing power for light material-handling equipment, small pumps, and similar machinery while keeping current demand suitable for compact SCR drives. The 56C face configuration supports direct attachment to compatible gearboxes, pumps, and machine mounting plates. Its standardized face arrangement helps maintain shaft alignment between the motor and the connected load without requiring a separate base mount. Because the enclosure is totally enclosed, the motor can operate in locations where airborne debris could enter an open, ventilated motor, although external heat transfer must remain unobstructed. Couplings and driven components should be aligned correctly to avoid unnecessary radial loading on the shaft and bearings during continuous operation.
