The SMC-100 single-axis motion controller operates at a servo rate of 2 kHz and features a floating-point digital PID control system that feeds forward velocity and friction, that improves precision. While the PP model is compatible with stepper motors running at 48 VDC at 1.1 A rms per phase, the CC model is better suited for driving DC servo motors at 48 VDC with 1.5 A rms and 3 A peak current. The motor control uses a 100 kHz PWM switching frequency to ensure that it runs smoothly. The machine has four TTL inputs and outputs, as well as one analog input that allows user input and feedback.
