The S7720F-SNF2-PM is a servo drive produced by Kollmorgen for the S700 Servo Drives series. It converts the plant's three-phase supply into regulated current for permanent-magnet servo motors, providing speed, torque, and position control in industrial automation cells. Acting as the power stage between the motion controller and the motor feedback loop, it manages dynamic loads while supporting the safety and communication functions expected in modern machinery. This arrangement allows the drive to respond quickly to command changes while maintaining closed-loop motion accuracy across varying loads.

Electrically, the drive accepts a mains window of 208…480 V and delivers a continuous phase current of 72 Arms; short-term demands can reach 140 Arms. These limits indicate the motor sizes the unit can drive without excess heating during sustained operation. A supply capacity of 50 kVA lets the converter handle large loads during acceleration, and the output stage is pulse-width modulated at 8 kHz to reduce motor noise and sharpen current loops.
