The S7720F-PNF2-PA is a Kollmorgen servo drive in the S700 Servo Drives series. It converts factory line power to a regulated, pulse-width-modulated output that runs brushless or induction motors in packaging, printing, and material-handling machines with controlled speed and torque. Integrated handling for external brake resistors and internal brake power lets the unit dissipate kinetic energy without extra hardware, so axes decelerate in a controlled manner while remaining within thermal limits.

The drive accepts a line supply of 208–480 V and delivers a continuous phase current of 72 Arms. For rapid acceleration, it can source up to 140 Arms, and it supports 8 kW of continuous brake power when paired with a 10 Ω external resistor. Pulse generation occurs at an 8 kHz switching frequency, striking a balance between acoustic noise and motor ripple. Dual-channel safety inputs satisfy the IEC 61800-5-2 stop requirement through a dual-channel STO circuit, allowing removal of torque-producing energy without cutting line power. Control and diagnostics are carried over a PROFINET interface with dual RJ45 ports. Coated printed circuit boards resist moisture and airborne contaminants, and a dedicated fan-controller expansion card regulates airflow over the heat sink.

The unit can sustain its peak output for 5 s before reverting to its nominal envelope, and the power stage sheds heat at 1005 W when supplied from a 400 V network, a value used to size cabinet ventilation. Overall dimensions are 386 mm in height, 190 mm in width, and 244 mm in depth, with a mass of 13 kg, permitting side-by-side mounting in crowded panels. The factory-applied coating is confirmed by the coated PCB finish entry. When input demand rises toward 50 kVA, the drive’s fan controller increases speed to maintain safe internal temperatures.
