Product Description:

The S7720F-NAF2-PM is a servo drive from Kollmorgen’s S700 Servo Drives series. It converts factory AC power into precisely modulated motor currents so that indexing tables, gantry axes, or packaging lines receive deterministic torque and speed commands. By combining motion control, protection, and fieldbus interfaces in one housing, the drive reduces panel wiring and supports coordinated multi-axis automation. It is intended for closed-loop servo systems where repeatable motion and predictable response are required throughout a production cycle.

The power front end accepts line voltages from 208–480 V, and an 80 A AC supply fuse protects the input stage. Under continuous loading, it draws up to 50 kVA and delivers a motor phase current of 72 Arms. For rapid acceleration or disturbance rejection, current can climb to 140 Arms for short intervals without leaving its safe operating area. A carrier frequency of 8 kHz shapes the output waveform, which helps reduce torque ripple in low-inductance windings. The auxiliary 24 V circuit sources 2 A for encoders and I/O, while the 5 V Posi/O channel supports differential position feedback. Width, depth, and height of 190 mm, 285 mm, and 505 mm, including connectors, allow side-by-side mounting with adequate airflow. This current range allows the drive to support both steady-state operation and short bursts of higher demand during indexing or speed correction.

Dynamic braking energy is routed to an internal stage that can absorb a pulse of 50 kW and up to 8 kW continuously, or it can be diverted to a 10 Ω external resistor when cyclical deceleration is frequent. During these events, the heat sink must dissipate 1005 W, which affects enclosure ventilation requirements. Functional safety is addressed by integrated dual-channel STO, allowing immediate torque removal without contactors. The safety circuit suits applications that require fast torque shutdown within the motor power system. A fan controller expansion card, along with the option for standard or coated PCBs, supports operation in dusty or humid process areas.
