The S7720F-FBF2-S3 is a servo drive produced by Kollmorgen for the S700 Servo Drives series. As an axis controller, it regulates torque, speed, and position in industrial automation systems that use permanent-magnet servo motors. By converting three-phase mains power to controlled output current, the unit supplies closed-loop motion with encoder feedback while integrating easily into cabinet-mounted control architectures.

This drive accepts a mains range of 208 to 480 V and draws up to 50 kVA of input power under nominal load. Motor current is delivered continuously at 72 Arms, with transient demands handled to 140 Arms. A carrier setting of 8 kHz sets the power-stage switching frequency and reduces motor acoustic noise. Line protection is provided by an 80 A AC supply fuse, while a 150 kΩ analog input resistance and a 62.5 µs analog update rate support high-resolution velocity or torque commands. Functional safety is addressed by dual-channel STO, which removes torque without disrupting the control program. Cabinet layout is simplified by the IP20 housing that allows convection or forced-air cooling, and the internal fan activates once the heat sink reaches 65 °C. Regenerative energy is managed continuously up to 8 kW, and the built-in fan controller stabilizes thermal load during frequent acceleration cycles.
