The S7720F-EIF2-PM is a digital servo drive from Kollmorgen built for the S700 Servo Drives series. As a stand-alone power stage, it interfaces between the plant’s three-phase supply and a synchronous or induction servo motor, providing closed-loop velocity and torque control for automated machinery. The drive incorporates dual-channel STO to simplify functional safety design and includes a dedicated fan controller expansion card that manages internal airflow. Its IP20 housing is intended for mounting inside a control cabinet, and it can be combined with field I/O extensions when additional machine signals are required.

Electrical ratings support a continuous input load of 50 kVA across a mains range of 208 to 480 V. From that supply, the power section can deliver up to 72 Arms of motor current while maintaining a residual voltage drop of 6 V, which helps limit internal losses. The PWM output stage switches at 8 kHz, balancing current ripple with thermal stress on the IGBTs. An external braking resistor of 10 ohms may be connected, and the unit can dissipate regenerative energy at a continuous rate of 8 kW to prevent DC-link overvoltage during fast deceleration. Permitted switch cycles are limited to 30 per hour so the start-stop duty remains within the drive’s thermal capacity.

For a 72 A class device, the housing remains compact with a width of 190 mm, a height of 386 mm, and a depth of 244 mm. Its mass is 13 kg, and the enclosure remains IP20 for protected cabinet use. Maximum noise emission reaches 68 dB(A) when the internal fans run at full speed. Fourteen digital inputs and eight digital outputs on the I/O extension strip allow direct connection of sensors, relays, and interlocks without additional interface modules. PCB coating is available for sites with ambient contamination.
