The S7720F-DNF2-PA is a servo drive manufactured by Kollmorgen as part of the S700 Servo Drives series. It energizes three-phase servomotors with precise current and voltage modulation, forming the actuator end of high-speed packaging lines, pick-and-place gantries, and robotic joints. By converting plant mains to pulse-width-modulated output, the drive closes the torque, velocity, and position loops while providing analog, digital, and safety interfaces so that PLCs can command tightly synchronized motion profiles.

Its input section accepts a line range of 208 to 480 V AC and delivers a continuous phase current of 72 A rms, drawing up to 50 kVA when fully loaded. The output stage switches at 8 kHz, a carrier frequency that limits ripple and allows fine current control on low-inductance windings. For process feedback, the drive offers two differential ±10 V analog channels; the input path presents 20 kΩ impedance, resolves signals to 1.25 mV, and refreshes every 62.5 µs, while the output path generates reference voltages with 0.38 mV granularity on a 250 µs cycle. A dual-channel Safe Torque Off interface allows functional safety without external contactors, and a dedicated fan-controller expansion card supervises thermal loads on the internal heat sink.

The housing measures 190 mm wide, 285 mm deep, and 505 mm high with connectors installed, while the platform weighs 13 kg for cabinet mounting. Acoustic output is limited to 68 dB(A), which suits typical industrial environments. An integral thermal profile turns the heat-sink fan on at 80 °C and the internal fan at 65 °C, and both devices are coordinated by the supplied fan-controller card. For environments with airborne contaminants, the drive is available with standard or conformally coated PCBs. Machine builders can wire emergency-stop chains directly to the drive because its safety input provides dual-channel STO functionality in accordance with SIL targets.
