The S7720F-2CF2-PM is a servo drive built by Kollmorgen for the S700 Servo Drives series. Positioned between the plant’s mains and a matched servo motor, this unit rectifies, stores, and modulates energy so the motor follows commanded torque, speed, and position profiles. By integrating current loops, bus monitoring, and safety inputs into one housing, it simplifies cabinet layouts for packaging lines, metal-forming presses, and other automated machinery.

The drive accepts a three-phase line in the range of 208–480 V and can process up to 50 kVA of apparent power, which provides headroom for high-inertia moves without supply sag. Under continuous duty, the power stage delivers a nominal phase current of 72 Arms, while temporary overloads are supported with a peak envelope of 140 Arms for rapid acceleration. The internal DC link is regulated between 675 VDC at its ceiling and 290 VDC at its minimum, allowing energy from braking events to be buffered before discharge through an external resistor. Dual-channel STO circuitry disables the gate drivers on demand to meet functional safety requirements without additional contactors. Coated and uncoated PCB variants are available to suit cabinet humidity or particulate conditions.

An upstream fuse of 80 A protects the AC input conductors, and a separate auxiliary line rated at 24 VDC supplies the control logic; the electronics draw 2 A from this rail during normal operation. A fan-controller expansion card regulates cooling airflow in proportion to heat-sink temperature, while the brake output can source 3 A to hold vertical axes at rest. The enclosure meets IP20 protection, indicating finger-safe openings and a requirement for installation inside a panel. Standard wiring practices remain unchanged because the terminal spacing accommodates the stated voltage and current limits.
