The S7720F-2CF2-F2 servo drive is produced by Kollmorgen as part of the S700 Servo Drives series. This three-phase drive converts line power into a controlled output that governs torque, velocity, and position for brushless servo motors used on packaging stations, assembly cells, and material-handling axes. Integrated safety and fieldbus interfaces let it serve a central role in distributed industrial automation architectures.

Electrically, the unit accepts mains from 208 to 480 V and delivers a continuous output of 72 A rms, allowing constant motor loading without thermal overrun. For rapid acceleration, it can supply 140 A rms for up to 5 s, after which current folds back to the rated value to protect both the drive and the motor winding. Its PWM section switches at 8 kHz, balancing dynamic response with manageable motor acoustic noise. Dual-channel STO is implemented in hardware to eliminate drive output when the safety circuit is tripped. Two programmable analog inputs and four digital inputs let a controller map process variables directly into the drive.
