The S7720C-SNF2-PA is a three-phase AC servo drive manufactured by Kollmorgen as part of the S700 Servo Drives series. It converts line power into controlled, high-bandwidth motor voltage and current, enabling accurate speed or position regulation in automated handling systems, packaging equipment, and similar motion platforms. Integration of fieldbus interfaces and safety channels lets the drive operate as the central power stage in a modern distributed control architecture.

The drive accepts an input range of 208–480 V, allowing connection in a wide range of power systems without transformer adaptation. Under those conditions, it can deliver a continuous phase current of 72 Arms, which supports sustained motor output on the axis. Line utilization reaches 50 kVA at full load, so upstream protection and cabling must be sized accordingly, and the AC connection terminals accommodate conductors up to 25 mm². Pulse-width modulation occurs at 8 kHz, balancing electromagnetic noise with switching losses, and the output current form factor of 1.01 indicates that the RMS current closely matches the average value, reducing copper heating in the motor windings. A residual voltage drop of 6 V appears between the DC bus and motor terminals, while a plug-in fan-controller expansion card and an optional coldplate support targeted thermal management.

The housing measures 190 mm wide, 244 mm deep, and 386 mm high, yet it weighs only 13 kg, which helps keep cabinet integration manageable. Acoustic emission is limited to 68 dB(A), which is useful when the drive cabinet is installed near work areas. Functional safety is implemented by the integrated dual-channel STO, providing power-off protection without external contactors. With the internal fan disabled, thermal loss falls to 24 W, which supports convection-cooled or coldplate installations without excessive panel heating.
