The S7720C-PNF2-F2 is a servo amplifier built by Kollmorgen for the S700 Servo Drives series. As a digital drive, it supplies regulated three-phase power to matched synchronous or asynchronous motors so that speed, torque, and position loops in an automation cell can be closed through the controller. The unit fits cabinet installations that require compact power electronics. The housing measures 190 mm in width, 244 mm in depth, and 386 mm in height, and it weighs 13 kg. An integrated coldplate provides a direct thermal path to the mounting surface, which supports liquid or conduction cooling in sealed enclosures.

The drive accepts mains supplies from 208 to 480 V and draws up to 50 kVA at its rated operating point. Under those conditions, it delivers 72 Arms of continuous current to the motor, while the IGBT bridge switches at 8 kHz to help limit current ripple. The output dv/dt reaches 4.8 kV/µs, so shielded motor cable runs are required. A minimum motor inductance of 0.61 mH is required, and a 10 Ω external brake resistor can be fitted for dynamic braking. Residual voltage drop across the transistors is 6 V, and the permitted switching frequency of the mains contactor is 30 operations per hour. The installed fan-controller card regulates housing airflow so that component temperatures remain within allowable limits.

Full-load conduction through the coldplate removes 1135 W of heat at 480 V. Safety is addressed by the dual-channel STO circuit, which disables the power stage without relying on electromechanical relays. The drive can be power-cycled up to 30 times per hour without exceeding thermal limits, and acoustic output stays below 68 dB(A). When the axes are idle, the control electronics draw only 24 W, which helps reduce enclosure temperature and lowers the airflow demand on auxiliary fans.
