The S7720C-NANA-S4 is a servo drive produced by Kollmorgen for the S700 Servo Drives series. It converts a three-phase mains supply into pulse-width-modulated power for synchronous or induction motors in industrial automation. Integrated EtherCAT and CANopen ports let the unit connect directly to a controller without extra gateway cards. By delivering closed-loop current and velocity regulation, it supports accurate positioning, fast cycles, and synchronized multi-axis motion on packaging lines, palletizers, and semiconductor handlers.

Electrical ratings define how the drive interfaces with plant power. It accepts line voltages from 208–480 V and is protected to the IP20 level for cabinet mounting. A mains fuse of 80 A and a 125 A brake-resistor fuse guard the supply path, while the switch-on frequency of 30 cycles per hour limits thermal shock. Continuous shaft power is supported by a rated current of 72 Arms, and short-term overloads are handled with a peak capability of 140 Arms. With a demanded input of 50 kVA, the model can drive low-inductance motors down to 0.51 mH and sustains an output current form factor of 1.01, keeping harmonic stress minimal. A residual 6 V drop appears across the output stage during conduction.

Dynamic and thermal features complete the profile. The output stage is clocked at 8 kHz, and its devices impose a voltage rise of 4.0 kV/µs across connected phases, so shielded motor cables are recommended. During operation at 400 V the power section releases 1005 W of heat, whereas only 24 W are dissipated when the stage is disabled; the factory-supplied cold-plate option funnels this load to an external heatsink. Acoustic emission is held to 68 dB(A), and EtherCAT plus CANopen remain available because no expansion card is required. Functional safety is provided by the dual channel STO circuit, letting the machine reach a safe torque-off state without mechanical relays.
