Product Description:

The Kollmorgen S7720A-SEF2-NA digital servo amplifier controls the 24 V holding brake of the connected motor. This servo amplifier displays its parameter and function numbers on the three-character LED display if the keys on its front panel are used. The product is re-fed with energy during the braking action with the help of the motor. This device includes an integrated circuit to detect the failure of one or more input phases. The unit has a functional safe restart lock STO to hold it in standstill mode using its internal electronics. Its setup software helps in adapting the brake circuit according to the electrical supply voltage.

This amplifier behavior is determined by how the setting for various parameters has been done. The product performs a shutdown by switching off the energy supply to the machine in which it is installed when category 0 of the stop function is implemented. This device also has an emergency stop function as defined by IEC 60204 specifications. The unit has a continuously charged DC bus link because of the STO function. It must be braked in a controlled way before separating the inputs from the 24 VDC supply.

This amplifier has an IP 20 protection class as per EN 60529 specifications. The product has a leakage current of more than 3.5 mA to the protective earth. This device uses a RCD that is sensitive to all currents to detect any DC fault current. The unit should at no time be allowed to make contact with electronic components and contacts. Its switchgear cabinet must always be closed when it is in use. This servo amplifier depicts a series wiring of the BTB/RTO contact into the emergency contact of the installation.

Frequently Asked Questions about S7720A-SEF2-NA:

Q: How should the STO enable inputs of the S700 amplifier be connected?

A: The STO enable inputs of the S700 amplifier should be connected to the exits of a security control or a safety relay that meets SIL CL2 and PLd requirements.

Q: Why is low-resistance earthing necessary for the S700 amplifier?

A: Low-resistance earthing is necessary for the S700 amplifier to avoid the risk of electric shock.

Q: What does it mean when the ERR LED of the Sercos interface lights up very brightly?

A: When the ERR LED of the Sercos interface lights up very brightly, it means that there is strong interference in the communication or there is no communication at all.

Q: What must the residual current in the RCDs of the S700 amplifier be for protection against indirect and direct contact?

A: The residual current in the RCDs of the S700 amplifier for protection against indirect and direct contact must be between 10 mA to 30 mA.

Q: What is the safe temperature for touching the S700 amplifier after it has been in use?

A: The safe temperature for touching the S700 amplifier after it has been in use is below 40 °C.
