The S7720A-PNF2-S4 is a servo drive manufactured by Kollmorgen for the S700 Servo Drives series. It converts three-phase mains power into regulated current for servomotors that position actuators, gantries, and robotic joints in automated machinery. Serving as the link between a PLC and the motor, the drive supervises velocity, torque, and position loops while embedding fieldbus and safety functions within a compact cabinet-mount enclosure. This arrangement allows the axis to respond quickly to command changes and load disturbances during coordinated motion.

The drive accepts input voltages from 208–480 V and delivers 72 Arms of output current to the motor, while upstream feeders must support 50 kVA during transient demand. Its IGBT stage switches at 8 kHz, which helps reduce acoustic and electrical ripple. A built-in chopper diverts up to 8 kW of regenerated energy into an external brake resistor, helping control DC-bus rise during deceleration. The housing is 244 mm deep and 386 mm high, and the unit sheds 24 W when disabled, allowing installation in a 400 mm panel without forced cooling.
