Product Description:

The S7720A-DNF2-NA is a servo drive produced by Kollmorgen within the S700 Servo Drives series. It modulates the current and voltage delivered to synchronous or induction servomotors so that motion axes follow velocity, torque, and position commands in industrial automation cells. The unit accepts three-phase mains in the 208 to 480 V range and provides a regulated DC bus for power conversion. Dual-channel safe torque off (STO) circuitry disconnects gate signals to the output stage when a safety relay opens, helping the machine meet safety requirements without external contactors.

The control section is supplied from a 24 VDC auxiliary circuit that keeps logic active during mains removal. Communication with upper-level controllers is available through the onboard fieldbuses; real-time telegrams are carried over EtherCAT, while cyclic data can be exchanged on CANopen. During acceleration or fast transient events, the drive can deliver up to 140 Arms to the motor, and under continuous duty it is rated for 72 Arms. Internal link capacitors operate over a bus window of 290-675 VDC, which allows direct connection to rectified European or North American utility voltages without tap changes. Two programmable analog inputs, four programmable digital inputs, and two programmable digital I/O points support local feedback, limit, or process signals. An optional fan-controller expansion card manages external blower speed when additional thermal margin is required, and the minimum permissible motor inductance at 480 V is 0.61 mH to prevent excessive ripple current in low-impedance windings.

The drive handles line frequencies of 50/60 Hz and draws a maximum apparent power of 50 kVA at full load. Cold-plate construction with coated printed circuit boards helps protect components from condensation and airborne contaminants, and the module fits cabinets that can accommodate its footprint of 385 × 190 × 243 mm. An auxiliary 2-channel STO loop can be wired directly to emergency-stop circuits, and dedicated terminals expose the two programmable digital I/O points for indexing, homing, or brake-release logic without occupying network bandwidth.
