The S7720A-2CF2-S4 is a servo drive module produced by Kollmorgen within the S700 Servo Drives series. As a drive, it supplies regulated three-phase power to synchronous or induction motors and manages real-time motion profiles in automated machinery, packaging lines, and material-handling cells. By closing the velocity and torque loops inside the drive rather than in the PLC, it offloads high-speed control tasks and helps keep axis response consistent during fast machine cycles.

It operates from an auxiliary control supply of 24 VDC, while its power stage connects to a DC bus that may rise to 900 VDC when fed from the line converter. Continuous motor power is supported by a rated phase current of 72 Arms, and digital outputs can source up to 100 mA. The dedicated brake output can deliver 2 A to release holding brakes, which separates brake control from the main motor power path. An internal temperature-controlled fan helps maintain thermal limits, while built-in RS-232 service access, CANopen, and EtherCAT support service communication and synchronized fieldbus control.
