The S7720A-2CF2-PM is a Kollmorgen servo amplifier from the S700 Servo Drives series. It converts plant-level three-phase power into controlled motor currents so that industrial axes follow commanded torque, speed, and position profiles. Integrated within automation cells, the drive forms the power stage between motion controllers and brushless servo motors on packaging lines, metal-forming presses, and high-speed pick-and-place stations.

Its electrical interface accepts a line range of 208–480 V, letting the drive operate on common plant supplies. Under continuous load, it provides 72 Arms of output current and demands 50 kVA of apparent power; these figures affect feeder sizing and protective device selection. The IGBT bridge switches at 8 kHz, which influences current-loop bandwidth and audible emissions. A five-second peak window lets the unit deliver overload current before thermal limits apply, and only 24 W of heat is produced when the power stage is disabled. Thirty permissible switch cycles per hour help protect the DC-link capacitors, and residual bus voltage falls to 6 V after shutdown. Dual-channel STO disconnects torque-producing energy, and a plug-in fan-controller card works with a cold-plate base and coated PCBs to stabilize internal temperature in demanding environments.

The power terminals accept conductors up to 25 mm² on the AC input, and the braking-resistor port is sized for 35 mm² cable to accommodate regenerative energy. The DC bus link and the motor leads are each sized for 25 mm², which keeps current density consistent across the installation. Physical dimensions of 244 mm depth, 386 mm height, and a 190 mm width allow the chassis to fit narrow lineups, while a mass of 13 kg keeps handling manageable during installation.
