The unit receives command words from a motion controller and regulates the three-phase output required by synchronous or induction motors. By converting the incoming AC supply to a PWM-controlled voltage, it delivers precise torque, speed, and position control. Within automated packaging machines, machining centers, and conveyor segments, the drive provides the closed-loop power stage that links higher-level control software to mechanical motion.

The drive accepts a supply within 208 to 480 V, allowing deployment on common plant mains. Under nominal conditions, it can draw 50 kVA, while its continuous motor phase current is 72 Arms. For short overloads, it supports 140 Arms for the specified 5-second interval, enabling rapid acceleration or disturbance rejection. A switching frequency of 8 kHz minimizes audible motor noise and refines current control, and the resulting output current form factor is 1.01, indicating near-sinusoidal wave shaping. Internal conduction paths introduce only 6 V of residual drop, preserving voltage headroom at the motor terminals. When the power stage is disabled, the electronics dissipate 24 W, so cabinet thermal design can remain compact. Dual-channel STO is integrated for safe torque-off functionality.

For installation, the housing measures 190 mm wide, 244 mm deep, and 386 mm high and weighs 13 kg, allowing it to fit in standard 300 mm control enclosures. Connection to plant mains is protected by an 80 A AC fuse, and a fan-controller expansion card manages airflow across the standard PCBs. Where dynamic braking is required, an external resistor of 10 ohms can dissipate up to 8 kW of regenerative energy without loading the internal transistors. During operation, acoustic output does not exceed 68 dB(A), which helps keep machine noise at a moderate level.
