The S77202-NAF2-S4 is a servo drive produced by Kollmorgen as part of the S700 Servo Drives series. It converts three-phase input power into regulated current for synchronous or induction motors, allowing accurate torque and velocity control in automated machinery. Because current regulation is handled within the drive, the motor can respond smoothly to changing load conditions during indexing, positioning, and speed-controlled production tasks. The unit also combines dynamic braking with integrated safety logic, so it can stop axes quickly and support functional safety on packaging lines, pick-and-place gantries, and other coordinated motion systems.

Continuous brake power of 8 kW lets the internal power stage and an external 10 Ω resistor absorb regenerated energy during rapid deceleration. This is useful on axes that reverse often or slow heavy loads within short cycle times. During acceleration peaks, the inverter delivers up to 140 Arms, while its steady-state capability is 72 Arms, giving the drive strong current reserve without overstating continuous load capacity. The input section handles 50 kVA, and insulated-gate transistors switch at 8 kHz to balance current ripple and thermal loading. Cabinet layout is supported by the 244 mm depth, 190 mm width, and 386 mm height, while the fan-control expansion card starts cooling at 65 °C to maintain stable operation and limit heat buildup inside the enclosure.

Operation is supported across a mains window of 208 to 480 V, allowing one drive type to fit a wide range of plant supplies. At 480 V, the converter losses reach 1135 W, so forced-air cooling is required, while only 24 W are dissipated when the power stage is disabled, which helps reduce unnecessary cabinet heating during idle periods. Maximum acoustic emission of 68 dB(A) keeps audible noise moderate during operation, and the drive mass of 13 kg supports straightforward vertical panel mounting. Standard PCBs, the 10 Ω brake-resistor connection, and a switching-frequency-controlled fan are included in the hardware package.
