The S77202-EIF2-S4 servo drive is produced by Kollmorgen within the S700 Servo Drives series. This unit acts as the power interface between low-level control logic and three-phase servomotors, supplying regulated current for torque, speed, and position loops in automated machinery such as pick-and-place stations and gantry axes. It accepts 24 V control signals and routes them to its internal gate drivers while drawing its main power directly from industrial AC mains, allowing it to fit into standard motion-control architectures without extra conversion hardware.

On the power side, the drive delivers a continuous motor phase current of 72 Arms and operates from a mains range of 208 to 480 V. Internal IGBTs switch at 8 kHz, balancing switching losses with current ripple for smooth torque production. Fourteen optically isolated control points are available as 14 digital inputs, so limit switches, enables, and homing sensors can be wired here without additional interface modules. Eight transistor outputs broadcast status or drive relays, and a 24 V, 500 mA sourcing line is provided for field devices. When loaded at its nominal rating, the converter transfers up to 50 kVA from the mains to the motor windings, supporting mid-power axes without an external transformer.

Short overloads are supported for 5 s, enabling the axis to overcome inertial peaks before current foldback occurs. A fan governed by the expansion card starts when the heat sink reaches 65 °C to maintain thermal limits. Functional safety is built in, and the S4 option supplies nine safe-motion modes and meets SIL CL2 / PLd, aided by dual-channel STO hardware. Despite its power capacity, the housing weighs only 13 kg and measures 386 mm in height and 190 mm in width, allowing placement in compact control cabinets while leaving room for additional automation components.
