The S77202-DNF2-S3 belongs to the S700 Servo Drives series produced by Kollmorgen. As a servo drive, it supplies regulated power to synchronous or induction motors and exchanges real-time motion commands with higher-level controllers in automated lines, packaging machines, and material-handling cells. A DeviceNet fieldbus interface allows direct integration with PLC networks, while an expansion slot accepts a fan controller card so cooling capacity can be matched to cabinet airflow. This model also supports an external dynamic-braking circuit for rapid motor deceleration during emergency stops or high-inertia moves.

The drive operates from a three-phase mains range of 208 to 480 V and is safeguarded upstream by an 80 A AC line fuse. Under those conditions, it can supply 72 Arms of continuous current while drawing up to 50 kVA of apparent power. Internal IGBTs switch at 8 kHz, giving fine current resolution without excessive switching loss, and only a 6 V residual voltage drop appears across the output stage, which helps preserve motor torque at low speed. Regenerative energy can be routed to an external 10 Ω brake resistor that absorbs 8 kW of peak power, keeping the DC-link voltage below protective limits. Dual-channel STO is available for safe torque removal, and thermal design limits power loss to 24 W when the drive is disabled, easing panel heat extraction.

The enclosure has an IP20 rating and is suited for ventilated cabinets. The aluminum housing weighs 13 kg, stands 386 mm tall, and is 190 mm wide, so clearances can be planned accurately. Functional safety is certified to SIL CL3, allowing the unit to participate in Category 3 architectures without added relays. Standard PCBs resist typical industrial humidity ranges, and the optional fan controller modulates airflow to hold noise emission to 68 dB(A). The external brake interface supports controlled deceleration of high-inertia loads.
