The S7480F-PNF2-S4 servo drive is built by Kollmorgen and belongs to the S700 Servo Drives series. It converts three-phase mains power into regulated output for brushless servomotors used in packaging machinery, pick-and-place gantries, and other precision axes within automated cells. The drive closes commanded torque, speed, and position loops while adding integrated safety and network connectivity to the motion system. The drive accepts a line voltage of 208–480 V and draws up to 35 kVA of input power at nominal load. Within this range, it delivers a continuous phase current of 48 Arms, and the inverter stage switches at 8 kHz to control motor ripple and acoustic noise. Excess kinetic energy is routed to an external brake resistor of 15 Ω, which helps protect the DC link during rapid deceleration and repeated stop cycles. The housing measures 190 mm in width, 244 mm in depth, and 386 mm in height, and sound output is limited to 62 dB(A). These dimensions suit cabinet mounting where space must be planned around both wiring and cooling airflow.

An additional brake channel supports an absorption capacity of 8 kW for duty cycles that exceed the built-in chopper rating. Peak current can be maintained for 5 s before thermal regulators return the drive to continuous operation. Functional safety reaches SIL CL2, and a dual-channel STO circuit removes power to the motor without contactors. A dedicated fan-controller expansion card reduces blower speed to 50 percent during light loads, reducing wear and energy use. Network integration is handled through dual RJ45 ports that carry Profinet traffic over 100Base-TX Cat 5 cabling, and the unit has a mass of 13 kg.
