The S7480F-NANA-S4 servo drive is manufactured by Kollmorgen as part of the S700 Servo Drives series. It conditions three-phase power for synchronous and induction motors, letting automation cells maintain precise torque and velocity loops. EtherCAT and CANopen interfaces are embedded in the base hardware, so the unit can exchange real-time data with motion controllers without extra option boards. The drive regulates motor current, monitors system feedback, and enforces safe shutdowns whenever a fault or stop command is received.

The power stage accepts mains from 208...480 V, and the converter processes 35 kVA of continuous input. Under rated load, it supplies 48 Arms, while brief overloads are handled with up to 96 A RMS. Auxiliary electronics remain energized by an external feed that draws only 2 A at 24 V. Digital control lines are limited to 15 mA per input and 100 mA per output to protect PLC cards. A residual voltage drop of 6 V across the DC link aids controlled discharge. Cabinet space is conserved with a width of 190 mm and a height of 386 mm. The PCBs are available in standard or conformal-coated versions for higher-humidity service, and no expansion card is required because EtherCAT and CANopen are already onboard.

Up to 30 1/h power cycles are permitted, which helps prevent excessive thermal swings in the semiconductors. The integrated safety card is powered by 24.0 V and evaluates eight inputs while driving five outputs. In a fault, the hardware de-energizes motor phases within 3 ms, and normal STO command execution completes in 5 ms, delivering the dual-channel STO capability required for category-3 applications. The card’s response dynamics complement the rated on/off frequency and support machine-level stop times without external relays.
