The S7480F-NAF2-S3 is a servo drive produced by Kollmorgen within the S700 Servo Drives series. The unit sits between the mains supply and a servo motor, converting line voltage into precisely modulated current so motion controllers can issue accurate speed and position commands. In automated packaging lines, machining centers, and pick-and-place systems, it supplies the regulated power and braking energy needed for quick, repeatable axis moves. That operating role allows the drive to support rapid starts, controlled stops, and stable speed changes during demanding motion cycles.

Electrically, the drive accepts mains between 208 to 480 V and draws up to 35 kVA of continuous input power when all axes are under load. Its internal stage delivers a rated output of 48 Arms and can surge to 96 Arms for dynamic acceleration, while a separate auxiliary rail uses 24 VDC for control electronics. A braking transistor provides as much as 3 A of brake current to discharge motor energy during deceleration. This arrangement helps the unit handle short motion peaks while also managing regenerated energy when the motor slows. Thermal performance remains stable up to a rated ambient temperature of 40 °C, and forced airflow is managed by the Fan Control option with its matching fan-controller expansion card. With connectors installed, the housing is 505 mm high and 285 mm deep, and it has an IP20 enclosure rating for installation inside a protected cabinet.

Functional safety is provided by the S1-2 safety card working with the dual-channel STO circuit, achieving SIL CL3 and a performance level of PLe. Standard or coated PCBs are available, and the coated version adds factory-applied protection against humidity on the circuit boards. That added coating helps protect sensitive electronic surfaces in enclosed industrial panels where moisture can be a concern. When fitted with these boards, the drive has a width of 190 mm and weighs 13 kg, which supports straightforward integration on DIN rails or backplates.
