The S7480F-NAF2-NA servo drive is built by Kollmorgen as part of the S700 Servo Drives series. It accepts industrial AC power and produces regulated three-phase output for synchronous or induction motors used in automated lines. By combining current control with feedback processing, the unit provides the torque, speed, and position accuracy needed for coordinated motion in assembly, packaging, and material-handling stations. Its control functions also allow the drive to react quickly to changing load conditions during normal machine operation.

The drive supplies 48 Arms continuously and can reach 96 Arms for brief overloads, giving machines extra torque during acceleration and other short peak-demand events. Up to 35 kVA of input power is required, and the input span of 208-480 V allows operation from common industrial mains. A switching rate of 8 kHz sets the pulse-width modulation frequency and helps shape the motor current waveform. This combination supports both steady running and temporary increases in demand without interrupting axis motion. Auxiliary circuits draw 2 A, and each digital output sources 100 mA. The output stage has a 6 V residual drop and a 4.0 kV/µs voltage rise at 400 V, values that matter when selecting cables and insulation. Motors with inductance as low as 0.74 mH remain stable, and fan-controlled cooling removes 24 W at idle through the built-in fan-controller expansion card while the housing reaches 505 mm in height with connectors installed.

The enclosure has an IP20 protection class, so the drive is intended for installation inside a cabinet that provides additional shielding from dust and moisture. Safety is supported by dual-channel STO, which removes torque-producing power without external relays in suitable system designs. Acoustic output stays below 62 dB(A), helping limit cabinet noise during operation, and the unit adds 13 kg to the enclosure. Standard and coated PCBs are available, and the coated version supplied here resists condensation and airborne contaminants. This option is useful in cabinets exposed to humidity or light industrial pollution.
