The S7480F-FBF2-S3 servo drive is produced by Kollmorgen and belongs to the S700 Servo Drives series. As a programmable AC servo amplifier, it interfaces between the plant mains and a rotary or linear servo motor, regulating current and voltage so the motor follows position or torque commands issued by higher-level motion controllers. In automated machinery, the unit delivers rapid acceleration, integrated safety, and flexible feedback handling, enabling precise axis control for packaging lines, printing presses, and material-handling cells.

The drive accepts line supplies within a range of 208 to 480 V and draws up to 35 kVA at maximum continuous load. It delivers a continuous phase current of 48 Arms, while peak output reaches 96 Arms; this margin supports indexing or shock loads without derating. A PWM switching frequency of 8 kHz is applied to the IGBT bridge, balancing dynamic response against switching losses and motor noise. Dual-channel STO circuitry disconnects gate signals to the power stage when a safety input is asserted, allowing Category 3 or 4 emergency-stop architectures. The fan-controller expansion card monitors heat sink temperature and modulates airflow to keep junctions within limit.
